One of the good things about not blogging is that you get to look around at other stuff. I’ve been encouraged by the increasing number of bloggers at MBC, the church family I’m a part of. The latest guy to grab me on Sunday was the eminently respectable, slightly wacky (lol), loads of fun Rob [...]

The email below is typical of the Q hosts - it intrigues and gets me looking forward to it. If you are in the NYC area, why not be part of the conversation?
Dear Friend,
A few months have passed since we launched our initial Q gathering in Atlanta and we are still celebrating the stories of collaboration and [...]

I’m kind of having a minor break from blogging at the moment. Just a wee touch busy and don’t have too much to write about. However, I’ve listened to 3 Driscoll sermons which were amazing - on the humanity of Jesus, on what Jesus achieved on the cross and on did Jesus die. The humanity [...]

Romans 9 (NIV) - via biblegateway.com
14What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15For he says to Moses,
”I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”[f] 16It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17For the Scripture [...]

Of the current students at Stanford, they will have an average of 4 jobs before 30
Half of [...]

As mentioned before, the church family I’m part of is taking up Rick McKinley’s Advent Conspiracy and turning it into Just Christmas. Check it out and let me know what you think.

A bit more on emerging church from Tim Keller (and Mike’s comments on his blog about the talk) and Makeesha.
What do you understand of emerging church and what excites you about the conversation?
How do you see the difference between emerging and missional?
How do you see the emerging church impacting in Scotland?

I’ve been reading a bit more of Total Truth, a book that’s on loan from Lincoln, and is increasingly well-travelled as I seem to carry it many places but never quite finish. I’m currently reading a chapter on what I suspect is coming from an American cultural background rather than a European one, as it [...]
