Had lunch with Josh and his brother in law Seth today, which was great. I met Josh at Q in April. He’s just over for a short period, but we reminisced about the good times of Atlanta and talked about maybe meeting up next April in NYC.
Josh - enjoy the haggis!
If you haven’t got a [...]

Good post by Josh of “Confessions of a Seminarian” on the need for true community.
Talking of community (albeit online), I’ve adjusted the blogs I read, cutting a few out that I wasn’t spending so much time on. I continue to really value the following 5:
Jamie Arpin-Ricci: his insights into missional life are more credible for [...]

Had one of those frustrating days today:
- 5.30am get up
- 6.15am leave home to go to airport
- 7.25am hear that plane has a fault
- 7.30am get on the plane
- 8am ish - take off for a 55 min flight
- 9am ish - hear that we are going to have to circle over Heathrow for 25 [...]

I was also reading today about the gospel. So what? Well, there was a point made that just reminded me of a key truth. For so long, we have started with explaining the gospel by communicating the fall. And yet if you do that, you fail to help people understand redemption and restoration (the book [...]

Headed out to the MBC prayer meeting tonight - we were specifically praying about small groups, community and finance. Then I came home and drank beer. Awesome.
It’s been a week where I just feel I’m hearing and learning so much from God:
- Acts 8 39-40 - did you know we have a God who transports [...]

I’ve recently been given a book to take note of my prayer requests in. I’ve found it helpful over the years to write down what I am praying about, so that I can be consistent and faithful in who I pray for and what I pray about, but also so that I can note when [...]

In Scotland, country music is generally ridiculed. I’ve heard a lot over the years and I can see another side to it. I’m not leaping to its defence, I just wanted to highlight a song at the moment that I’m listening too lots - I think it’s just awesome. Lanny Donoho reminded me of it [...]

This morning we sang “as we bow down, be lifted up”. We’d just been hearing teaching on Matthew 5 and the beatitudes, and the “bow down” took on a whole new meaning for me, which this picture captures a little. It struck me that for many of the beatitudes, we are to be the agents [...]
